Adanna Ononiwu is the founder of InspireIT, an initiative that supports and mentors girls and women studying or interested in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics(STEM). Adanna has more than 6 years experience working with profit and non-profit organizations as an information technology consultant. She has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Master's degree in Information Technology Management from Anglia Ruskin University. Since 2014 when she started InspireIT, she has mentored more than 150 girls and women from different countries and have inspired more than 1500 girls to pursue STEM careers and attracted more than 4000 girls to choose STEM. In 2019, she was selected as a World Pulse Ambassador and was also selected as a World Pulse mentor in 2018. World Pulse is a U.S. based social network dedicated to accelerating global changes that women speak, encouraging and supporting women to speak up and amplifying women’s voices by using digital communication tools and strategies. In 2020, she was nominated for Mentors of Distinction Award by Business Council for Peace (BPeace) in New York as a result of her work with InspireIT.
Adanna's efforts on mentoring and promoting STEM for girls and women also contributed to InspireIT being nominated for World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2021.
