STEAM Career Journey: Illustrated Math Fun Book; Thanksgiving storefront painting; Bank proposal typist. Per guidance advisor, “women can’t be finance execs, you’re good in math, teach it.” Graduating college Phi Beta Kappa led to “Virtual Computer Services” role showing why clients should buy tech & “learning to dance.” Back from honeymoon, my job = “virtually non-existent.” Became Federal Reserve’s only woman programmer, made it to Diversity. Promoted to manager = Equity = “Asked to dance.” Exec roles: Merrill, IBM, Citi, JPMorgan,TMV owner, Boards = Inclusion = Almost Belonging.
About diversity and inclusion promotion
I care deeply about what I do, those with whom I work & being there for each other. This is the core of who I am. I build ecosystems of diverse teams that reflect excellence, ownership, humor. At “Boardroom Women – Investment Forum” I created clarity pinpointing social justice & competitive advantage as 2 sides of same coin. D&I is not only a question of social justice, it is one of competitive advantage. Businesses which don’t empathize with stakeholders are at a competitive disadvantage to those who do. Societies which don’t deploy a range of talents are equally disadvantaged. Unique stories.
About me as a leader
By sharing my unique experiences & lessons learned, future women leaders see that I understand them, can help gain clarity on their problems, & create reinvention solutions. A math - education degree enables quick pattern recognition. MBA finance - marketing elevates STEAM success. My husband, Tax Law Counsel of TMV, 2 sons, & I all take our work seriously... ourselves not so much!
Most leaders are anxious about storms because they don’t have a method to manage constant change, complexity & risk. I navigate them through uncharted waters with TMVi™ Algorithm, past-proven & future-adaptable.
