Argentina
Lartirigoyen
I am Head of Innovation & Development at Lartirigoyen, a well-regarded Argentine agricultural company. As a Chemical Sciences graduate, I entered the world of agriculture with my first work experience at Syngenta. This has ignited an even greater interest in the environmental impact of agricultural activities. I therefore pursued a Specialization in Environmental Management, where I discovered a passion for satellite imagery and maps. A scholarship sponsored by the US Embassy in Argentina allowed me to explore this passion with an MA in Geography at UC Davis, California. Upon my return to Argentina, I joined Lartirigoyen, founding the Innovation division in the company. Here, I help both the company and the agricultural farmers to gain greater efficiency in their processes through digitization and the incorporation of new technologies. I also co-created Larti Innova, a festival of agricultural science and innovation where we show young people from the countryside of Argentina what AgTech is doing in terms of innovation, technology and sustainability, demonstrating the opportunities that the sector has in the tech arena.
In addition, I co-founded US Alumni BA to bring together Argentine alumni upon their return from studying in the USA, so together we can enhance our learning experience in the USA and bring back that knowledge to our local communities. Finally, I advise and mentor startups and entrepreneurs. In particular, I am currently advising Future Innovative Minds, where I am helping the company to bring innovative and interdisciplinary knowledge to young people from LATAM, hand in hand with instructors from Ivy League Universities.
Regarding empowering women, both in my personal and professional life, I enhance the strengths of other women by highlighting their journeys and inspiring them by example. I participate in many spaces that allow this: Women in Innovation, Lean In, Vital Voices, FLOR Foundation, among others.
Many friends and colleagues have joined as well thanks to my recommendation, and I have made many one-to-one introductions, fostering networking and mentoring opportunities. In addition, within US Alumni BA I funded our Mentoring program, where we pair up our members based on their skills and interests, and provide personalised soft-skills trainings for them. In my view, you can be technically excellent, but soft skills are the ones that allow you to have a greater impact and help advance your career.
