Dr. Curbelo is an accomplished professional with a comprehensive Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics background.During her career, she has consistently exemplified leadership abilities in developing security programs; executing data security policies and disaster recovery strategies; and building cohesive teams. She has excellent academic qualifications, including doctoral and master’s degrees in information technology, in addition to multiple prestigious industry certifications such as Information Security Professional Practices (ISSP).She was recognized as One of the Top 50 Woman in Cybersecurity for LATAM (2021) and with Community Service Star Award for developing a successful Cyber Security Awareness Campaign for Teens in Puerto Rico (2012 ISLAS AWARDS ICS2).She is the founder of the Hippocampus Academy (https://www.instagram.com/hippocampusacademy/) and (https://hippocampusacademy.com/).The Hippocampus academy is an eLearning platform (in Spanish) for learning cybersecurity skills that contains security awareness material and training exercises wrapped in a gamified experience, using microlessons and game mechanisms such as points, progress, badges, and leaderboards. The objectives if the platform is to empower user by: Raising End-User Security Awareness; Improved level of engagement among participants; Increase in social connections through team competitions; Increased level of enthusiasm especially in a reward-based outcome; Increased awareness of risks involved in computer security and career opportunities associated with it. Dr. Curbelo works as mentor for multiple students and professionals that rely on her mentorship to progress and grow in the Cybersecurity arena. She is the founder of a scholarship program for woman in economic challenge communities that would like to study and explore the cybersecurity field.
